He was the father of Carrol Gene Thornton, Slidell, Lousiana and Gwen Wiewel, Denver, Colorado. His parents were Thomas E. and Molly Ann Bean Thornton. He was the brother of Dave Thornton, Erick, Oklahoma and the late Arthur L. Thornton, Edith Marriott and Beatrice Lewis. He is survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Chester was 87 years old, a native of Grimes, Oklahoma and a resident of Slidell, Louisiana for 14 years. Mr. Thornton was an avid fisherman. Services were Friday, February 7, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. John Lee, First United Methodist Church of Slidell, Louisiana officiating.
