Thurmond, Sr., president of the First National Bank of Elk City, who died Friday in an Elk City hospital were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Elk City Baptist Church with Rev. Horace Lee James, officiating. He was born August 11, 1872 in Dido, Texas and moved to Cheyenne in 1892. On January 24, 1896 he was married to Marth J. Hunt. He helped organize the Cheyenne State Bank and the First National Bank of Elk City, Oklahoma.\ Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha Thurmond of the home address; one son, A.L. Thurmond, Jr. of Elk City; one daughter, Mrs Hugh Putman of Oklahoma City; three brothers, E.K. Thurmond of Los Angeles, California, I.C.
