Mrs. D.T. Thomas died at Weatherford, Oklahoma June 10, 1926.  She 
was the mother of J.W. Thomas and Mrs. G.A. Watson of near Durham and 
for many years resided at Durham, she with her husband, having 
homesteaded near there in an early day. 

Dicie Ann Harding was born June 19th, 1850, in Jonesnboro, Tenn., 
where she was reared until in her youth she became a resident of 
Virginia, and soon was united in marriage to David Taylor Thomas at 
Berks Garden, Va., on Occtober 4th, 1866. 

To this union were born twelve children, one passing away in ifancy, 
and the other, Mrs. Homer Kees, about six years ago.  Those who 
survive her are John V. Thomas of Milligan, Tenn., J.W. of Durham, 
Okla., Birdie, Mrs. W.C. Tomlinson of Weatherford, Okla., S.S. of 
Pampa, Texas; Edna, Mrs. G.A. Watson of Durham, Okla., Haynes of 
Weatherford, Okla.; Chas. L. of Pampa, Tex., Letitia, Mrs. Fred 
Gantz, of Pampa, Tex., Miss Josie Thomas of Shattuck, Okla.; and 
Elbert of Pampa, Texas; and many grandchildren. 

_________(can't read) Aer County, Nebraska during the early pioneer 
days, their home being the first shingle roof house to be built.  
It was during these pioneer days at Cowles, Nebr., that Mrs. Thomas 
became a Christian and untied with the Christian Church.  After a 
residsence of about nine years the family returned to Virginia and 
again in 1897 turned to the west seeking a new home in that part of 
Oklahoma then known as the Indian Territory.  In 1900 they located at 
Durham, Okla.  Thus has the family been known in Western Oklahoma and 
the Panhandle of Texas. 

About twenty-four years ago Mrs. Thomas, became physically affected 
and for the past fifteen years has been entirely dependent upon those 
with whom she made her home for personal care.  Since Christmas she 
has been with her daughter, Mrs. Tomlinson in Weatherford, Okla. and 
it was about six weeks ago that all were called to her bedside, but 
she rallied for awhile, and then became speechless about four weeks 
ago, and gradualy weakened until passing into unconsciousness last 
Wednesday she slipped from her earthly habiation without pain 
Thursday night, June 10th, 1926 at 10:10 o'clock. 

She was preceded in death by her husband about nine years ago.  In 
addition to the children and grandchildren who are left to mourn her 
passing are hosts of friends where she has been known throughout 
life. 

The remains were brougfht to Pampa Saturday morning and taken to the 
home of Mrs. Fred Gantz.  The funeral service were held Saturday 
afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Christian Church conducted by Rev. 
James Todd Jr., minister, assisted by Rev. George A. Watson of 
Durham.  The choir sang, :Abide With Me", and "Saved by Grace", The 
pall bearers were, Will Suthers, George Suthers, R.E. Kinzer, Will 
Kinzer, V.B. Cecil and W.A. Taylor. 

The love of her children and her friends was expressed in the 
beautiful flowers that more than covered her grave.
