Mrs. Vaughan died October 15, 1974 in the Comanche Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Vaughan was born September 4, 1901 at Ryan, Oklahoma and later moved with her family, the late Norman White at Durham, Oklahoma. She was a teacher for 43 years, one of her early schools being at Durham. She later joined the Department of Interior working in the Indian schools and for many years was head of the Home Economics Department at Sequoyah Indian School at Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was a retired Civil Service employee a member of the First Christian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Delta kappa Gamma, and the American Association of University Women. She was selected as a distinguished teacher by Central State University, Edmond, in 1972. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens at Lawton where her brother, Arnold White, is buried. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Lennie Watson, 737 Sullivan Drive, Lawton, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Ola Mae Coplen, 1501 S. Abilene, Portales, New Mexico, one niece Mrs. Joan Dixon of Lawton, one great nephew, Lt. Michael Dixon of Ft. Riley, Kansas; and one great niece, Debbie Dixon, of Norman, Oklahoma.
