Funeral services were held Thursday, April 11, 1996 at the Erick Church of Christ with Earl Reed officiating. Burial was in the Mayfield Cemetery under the directionh of Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home of Erick. Mrs. Whipkey, the daughter of Anna and Morris Wylie, was born on April 29, 1918, in Harmon County, Oklahoma. She grew up on a farm near Vinson, Oklahoma, and moved to Mayfield in 1939 when she married Elmer H. Whipkey on January 28, in Erick. She remained in the Mayfield community for the rest of her life. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed yard work and gardening. Her interest centered around her son, two grandsons and, most recently, her great- grandson. She liked being around people and was a much-loved member of the Erick Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and four brothers. She is survived by her son, Harold Whipkey of Higgins, Texas; one sister, Nannie Pearl Tillman of Hollis; one brother, James Wiley of Mangum; two grandsons, Ronald Dean Whipkey of Ada and Roger Dean Whipkey of Lubbock, Texas; one great-grandson, Benjamin Earl Whipkey of Ada; her mother-in-law, Birdie Whipkey of Sweetwater, Oklahoma; and several other relatives and friends.
