Wickizer was born April 21, 1927 in Brookfield, Missouri to Ruth Emily Selle Wickizer and Mont Wickizer. he passed away December 6, 2000 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 15 days. Jack was raised near Gotebo, Oklahoma where he attended a one room school. He and his family later moved to Mangum, Oklahoma where he graduated from high school. Jack served in the U.S. Army in 1945- 1946 and was in the special services. He was married to Leona Francis Reece Poston Wickizer February 7, 1974. Mr. Wickizer worked as a radio announcer at many radio stations, including four years at KTJS, Hobart, four years at KWHW, Altus, 15 years at KWOE, Clinton, and at radio stations in Quanah and San Angelo, Texas and the Preston TV Station, Elk City for four years and was a technical engineer at KVIJ-TV in Sayre for 16 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He was a member of the 2nd & Adams Church of Christ, Elk City. Services were held Friday December 8, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Whinery- Savage Chapel, officiated by Tom Harguess. Burial was at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Whiney-Savage Funeral Service.
