West, on Monday afternoon of this week. The services were at Strong City where he had resided for many years. John H. West was born January 13, 1866 at Grandbury, Hood County, Texas, and departed this life January 13, 1945, at the aged of 79 years and five days, at his home in Strong City, Oklahoma. He has been a member of the First Christian Church for the past 40 years, living a devoted Christian life. He wsas married, to Sarah Prestridge, January 28, 1886. To this union three children were born: Willie West of Strong City; Mrs. Nannie Carr, Strong City, and Mrs. Bessie _________(can't read) Santa Anna, California. Besides his wife, Mrs. Sarah West and children he leaves to mourn his going four grandchildren: Mrs. Bessie Hartman, Long Beach, California; Mrs. Maxine Wedddle, Richmond, Virginia; John Louie Carr, Strong City; and Mrs. Virginia Farni, Strong City. Two great grandchildren, Vicki Nan Hartman and Cheryl Lee Farni also survive. Other survivors are two brothers Lee West, Clayton, New Mexico and Ben West, Tipton, California; one sister, Mrs. Ada Miller, Wichita Falls, Texas and other relatives and friends. Those preceding him in death are three sisters, Mrs. Eliza Cornwell, Mrs. Rhonda Huston, Mrs. Maggie Wigley, and one brother, O.C . West. Mr. West has been a devoted husband, a faithful father and grandfather. He has always been interested in helping his fellowman, giving generously to charitable organization, and community projects. Always lending a helping hand to a friend or neighbor in need. Mr. West will be remembered as one of the pioneers who hleped build the town, school and churches in an early day, and continued to contribute to their progress until death. He has been an active Masonic member for a number of years. He helped to organize the Masonic lodge of Cheyenne, of which he was a member. Besides his immediate family, the entire community will miss the wise counsel and friendly advice which he so willingly gave.
