She passed away January 21, 2003 in Roger Mills Memorial Hospital Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years 8 months and 8 days. Betty attended school at Cheyenne High School. She moved to Glendale, California with her parents. She was married to Dale W. Wesner while he was on leave from the Navy at Glendale, California on August 29, 1944. After his discharge from the U.S. Navy they moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma. They lived in Norman, Oklahoma while Dale attended college and moved back to Cheyenne to make their home. Betty worked at Security State Bank for eleven years and Roger Mills Memorial Hospital for a number of years until her retirement in 1976. After their retirement Dale and Betty traveled extensivley around the United States. They were avid golfers and played on many of the courses in Western Oklahoma. In 1990 she became extremenly interested in genealogy research and they traveled back east to verify information she had found working on her computer. Betty sold her faarm where the Battle of the Washita took place to the National Park Service in 1997 and moved to Cheyenne. She was active in researching the Battle of the Washita and was currently working with an author, writing a historical book, documenting historical facts. She was a faithful member of the Cheyenne Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents,Tom and Mabel Potts, husband, Dale, daughter-in-law, Jeanie Wesner, one sister, Virginia McLemore and one grandson, Randy Scott. Services were held Friday January 24, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Cheyenne Chuch of Christ, officiated by Kendall Abner. Burial was held at the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Gary Scott of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; one3 son Brian Wesner of Cheyenne, klahoma; four grandchildren, Joey and Kimberly Scott, Brenda Scott, Angie and Kyle Ivey, Kari and Robbie Robinson; six great grandchildren, Jonathon, Justin, Jacie, Katelyn, Korbin, Garrett; and a host of other relatives and friends.
