He died May 12, 1984 in Midwest City Memorial Hospital. Burial was in Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond and funeral arrangements were madce by Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 5005 SE 29. Ishmael was born July 3, 1893 in Neosho, Missouri. He came to Oklahoma City in 1950. He was a farmer and was retired from Tinker Air Force Base. He also was a member of the Del City Church of Christ and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was married to Veva Unger in 1915. They were married 61 years. They lived in Roger Mills County until 1945. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Parthena Wood; his wife, Veva; a son, Odell; brothers Ora and Laffie. Survivors include two sons; Billy Wood, Choctaw and Leroy Wood of Oklahoma City, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, four sisters: Ruby Baker, Reydon; Sirrilda Drake, Alamosa, Colorado; Mattie Meade, Torrance, California; and Orpha Gifford, Midwest City, Oklahoma.
