He passed away September 2, 2002 in the Bell Avenue Nursing Center, Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years and 11 months. Ernest moved with his parents to the Retrop community where he attended school. He was married to Ruby Alice Hall at Cordell, Oklahoma on July 25, 1936 and they continued to live in Retrop until 1940 when they moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma. In 1945 they moved to Allison, Texas and then to Sweetwater, Oklahoma in 1950 where he farmed and operated a dairy. After his retirement in 1970 they moved to Sayre. In 2000 they moved to the Elkwood Assisted Living Center in Elk City to be near their son. Ernest accepted Christ in 1922 and was ordained as a deacon in 1942. He was currently a member of the Sayre First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and one grandson. Services will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. at Sayre First Baptist Church, officiated by Robert Lakey and Tom Cooksey. Burial will be at Retrop Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Survivors include: two sons, Jimmy Dale Wallace and wife Vivian, Elk City, Oklahoma, Sammy Lloyd Wallace and wife, Lynette of Springer, Oklahoma; one sister, Cleo McFay Burton, Ardmore, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, host of other relatives and friends.
