He was born on July 8, 1918, at Jet, Oklahoma and was the son of Grant and Beatrice Wells. He attended school in the Jet area, and married Evelyn Anderson at Jet. The family moved to Guymon some 40 years ago. He was a member of the First Christian Church, and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was also a Past Worshipful Master of the Guymon Masonic Ledge, Guymon Blue Lodge, Knights of the York Cross, Guymon Council, Grand Council, DeMolay and Order of the Eastern Star. Besides his wife of the home, survivors include four daughters, Laura Fern Silby of Mobettie, Texas, Marilyn Thomas of Guymon, Jody Tidwell of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, and Doris Wells of Guymon; two sons, Lawrence Wells of Camp Pendleton, California and Wilbru Wells of Altus Air Force Base; 14 grandchildren, and a brother, the Rev. Wilbur H. Wells of Guymon. Funeral services fro Elmer Wells was conducted from the First Christian Church at 2:30 p.m., with Dr. J.C. Halford, Frank Buzzard and Dr. Jere Wells officiating. Masonic rites were held at Elmhurst Cemetery, under the direction of the Bunch Funeral Home of Guymon. A memorial has been established for the Guymon Masonic Charity Fund, contributions will be accepted at the lodge or the office of the Bunch Funeral Home. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK 11-Sep-1980
