JoAnn was born August 4, 1918 in Springdale, Arkansas, the daughter of Joe B. and Mattie Mae Lamb. She died May 24, 2003. In 1920, the Lambs moved to Hammon, where they purchased a farm west of town adjacent to the Cheyenne Reservation. JoAnn attended grade and high school in Hammon where she formed friendships that remained close and active throughout her life. As a young woman, she married Glenn D. Walker of Carter, Oklahoma, and they moved to Southern VCalifornia where they resided for 47 years. JoAnn worked as a real estate appraiser for Riviera Properties and as an appraiser for the American Cancer Socity. She was known for her hobby of collecting unique and eclectic items and her display of authentic Indian memorablila. The Walkers returned to Custer County in 1990 where they were active in the First Baptist Church, participating in Sunday School and the J.O.Y. choir. She organized the entertainment for the annual retreat for the three consecutive years. Her sense of humor added smiles everywhere she went. Survivors include a daughter Nelda and her husband, Dean Long, of Chapala, Mexico; a son, Arnold Fletcher and wife Myra of Clinton; grandchildren, Zane Fletcher and wife Sandra of Clinton; Shila King and husband Joey of Gartlan, Texas; Deanna Harrison and husband Randy of Kentucky; Dayna Johnson and husband Michael of Minnesota; Michelle Dorris and husband Jerry of Kentucky; and Shawn Long and wife Dedra of Oklahoma City; and 14 great grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley Lamb and wife Betty of Sayre, Oklahoma, and Morris Lamb and wife Judy of Illinois; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn D. Walker, two brothers, LaMar and David Lamb and a sister, Edith Roan. Burial will be in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Kiesau-Marler Funeral Home. The family suggests that those who desire may make donations to the library of the First Baptist Church.
