Surnames: Walker, Elliott, Kenney, Parr, Griffitts, Snider Originally posted at: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5YB.2ACE/6786 Robert "Bob" LeRoy Walker was born on September 7, 1920 to Ernest N. and Flossie (Elliott) Walker in Billings, Oklahoma. He passed from this life in Plano, Texas on May 13, 2006 at the age of 85. Bob was raised in rural Butler, Oklahoma where he attended grade school and high school graduating with thew Class of 1938. Bob served his country for four years in thew United States Army during World War II. During his enlistment he received several commendations and was honorably discharged in 1945. On December 8, 1945 Bob married Bonnie Jeanne Kenney at the home of Leon and Loretta Walker in Butler. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Barbara Lynn and Donna Jeanne. The couple made their home near Leedey, Oklahoma for fifty eight years. Due to declining health they moved to Clinton in 2003 and for a short period of time resided in the Angelwood Assisted Living Center. In 2005 they moved to Plano, Texas to the Edenbrook Assisted Living Center to be near their daughter Barbara, son-in-law Keith, and granddaughter Cyndy. Bob accepted the Lord as his personal savior and was baptized at the Antioch Baptist Church at a young age. He was a member of the Rhea Baptist Church and song leader for many years. He was also a member of the Leedey Ministerial Alliance and always willing to serve in any capacity needed. Bob was a life long farmer/rancher. He loved to farm and spent many hours working the land and taking care of his cattle. After retirement he became active in community service. Bob was a Gideon as well as a Mason and member of the Custer Masonic Lodge for 50 years. He was a long time member of the Leedey Ambulance Board and served as Chairman of both for several years. Preceding Bob in death are his parents, Ernest and Flosssie Wlaker; his daughter, Donna Jenne; two brothers, Leon and Al Walker, brother-in-law, Glenn Parr; and nephew, Jim Walker. Those remaining to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Bonnie of Plano, Texas; daughter, Barbara Griffitts and husband Keith of Plano, Texas, granddaughter, Cyndy Snider of Tyler, Texas grandson, Ryan Griffitts and wife Mary of Dallas, Texas; sister, Virginia Parr of Edmond, Oklahoma; uncle, Hubert Elliott of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Loretta Walker of Clinton, Oklahoma and Vynetta Walker of Edmond, Oklahoma; by several nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 17, 2006 in the First Baptist Church, Leedey, Oklahoma with interment following in Center Point Cemetery. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Home of Leedey, Oklahoma.
