Waldby, 98, passed away June 19, 1987 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born in Sherman, Texas and moved to Indian Territory at an early age. Waldby taught school in the Ada area and was a County Agriculture Agent in Cheyenne and Pauls Valley from the early '20 to 1935. He served as a Federal Land Appraiser and lived in Stillwater for over 10 years. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University. Waldby was active in the United Methodist Church include over 30 years in Sweeny, Texas, where in 1986 a recreation ceneter was established which was named the J.R. Waldby Family Life Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Garnett Griffith Waldby in 1972. He is survived by: 6 children: Roy Waldby, Sweeny, Texas; Louis Waldby, Wichita, Kansas; Odell Waldby, Tallahasse, Florida; Annette Roach, Winston Salem, North Carolina; Annie Flippo, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Doris Andersen, LaFayette, California; 3 sisters, Hattie Stice, Canyon Lake, Texas; Etta Garrett, Ada, oklahoma; Nell Waldby, Tracy, California; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren. Services were held Monday at 11:30 a.m. in Moores Eastlawn Chapel. Graveside services was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Memorials may be sent to the J.R.
