He passed from this life on Thursday, April 6, 1995 in the Great Plains Regional Medical Center of Elk City, Oklahoma. He was 83 years, 9 months, and 8 days of age. As a youth, Orvall attended Eureka Grade School and Leedey High School. Upon completing his formal education, he moved his residence to Oklahoma City where he worked for the Fred Jones Ford Agency and for a whole with ITIO Oil Company before returning to Leedey. Orval and Zona Gale Barten were married on March 19, 1932 in Taloga, Oklahoma. They established stheir first home together on the Walton homestead near Moorewood and lived there for six years before moving to the Barten homestead southwest of Leedey in 1939. It was there they raised their two children, and helped raise their four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and lived their lives to completion. Besides Orval's primary occupation of farming and ranching he leaves a loving legacy of carpentry skills that lives on today in many of the homes, buildings and barns they are found in and around Leedey. After retiring, he worked with his brother-in-law, Doc Barten, and his good friend, Doyle Bloomer, remodeling houses for the under- privileged in the Elk City area. Orval was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Zona Gale, on May 16, 1994. He was also preceded by his parents; by his sister, Dorothy; his brothers, Loren, Harley and Buddy; his brother-in-law, Harman Hogg; son-in-law Harvey Rushbrook and great grandson, Aaron Jones. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Charles Jones of Woodward; daughter Beverly Rushbrook of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister, Lorene Hogg, Leedey; grandchildren, Pete Stahlman of Fargo, Kenny Jones, Woodward, Oklahoma, Connie Vloedman, Clinton, Oklahoma and Scott Rushbrook of Dallas, Texas; great grandchildren, Mandy and Jessica Vloedman, Clinton, Adam Jones of Woodward and Staphanie and Talon Stahlman, Fargo; by other dear relatives and great hos of friends.
