On September 30, 1928, she and Samuel Richard Whinery were married in Burns Flat, Oklahoma. They lived in Canute, Dill City and Port before moving to Retrop in 1941 where they lived until 1973, when they moved to Sayre to make their home. Mr. Whinery passed away January 9, 1979. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sayre, Oklahoma. Others preceding her in death in addition to her husband and her parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Survivors include her 2 sons, Dr. Kenneth E. Whinery and A.L. Whinery, both of Sayre, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Dolly Richmond of Sentinel, Oklahoma; 2 brothers, Worth Richmond of Colony, Oklahoma and Leo Richmond of Headrick, Oklahoma. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 27, 1986 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with Aaron Hacker and Lynn Heard officiating. Interment followed in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Sayre. Grandsons serving as casket bearers were: Kent Whinery, Bret Whinery, Brad Whinery and Don Whinery. Honorary pallbearers were: Jack Hall, Allen Foster, Noble Coy, W.O.
