She was one of three children born to the late William Frederick and Lela (Maybee) Colhop. She grew up in Bloomington, Calif. where she attended school. Marlene furthered her education attending two years of college studying religion and art. Marlene married Edward Lee Wright on March 1, 1952 and to this union three beautiful daughters were born: Louise, Joyce and Barbara. In 1977 life took a wonderful turn and Marlene met and fell in love with Herman Eugene Walker and the two were married. Together they moved their family to Richland in 1987. While still living in California, Marlene opened up her home and heart to many children of all ages as a foster parent. She worked many jobs throughout her life to provide for her family. One of those jobs after moving to Missouri included working in Osage Beach as a Customer Service Manager for Wal-Mart. She worked there for several years where she made a lot of friends and later retired due to health reasons. She was very talented and there was nothing she couldnt do. She enjoyed painting, quilt making, knitting and writing poems. Marlene liked studying the Bible and was a Sunday school teacher when her health permitted. Marlene passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2009 in her home in Richland at the age of 71 years. Marlene will be sadly missed by her three daughters: Louise Nelson, Joyce and Barbara Chaffee all of Richland; one sister: Louise Loyer of Calif; one son-in-law: Dennis Chaffee of Richland; 6 grandchildren: William Chaffee, Teresa Leuthen, Brenda Voyles, Edward Nelson, Donna Nagel and Eugene Wright; 11 great grandchildren; several other relatives and friends. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents: William and Lela Colhop; her husband: Herman Walker and one brother: Bill Colhop, Jr. Private family services will be held in Richland and Calif. Arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory.
