Ken was born March 29, 1935, in Reydon, Oklahoma. Soon after his birth, parents Otto and Emma Watts migrated to California like so many others during that time. Ken began school in Firebaugh, California and at the beginning of World War II, the family moved to Richmond where they sought work in the shipyards building liberty ships. During this time, Kenny sold newspapers each morning before school to the workers as they changed shifts. Always a hard worker from an early age, he shined shoes for nickels and dimes and continued good work ethics all his life. At the end of the War, the family moved to Eureka where Ken continued his schooling at Lincoln Elementary and Eureka Junior and Senior High Schools. A 1953 EHS graduate, he played for the Eureka High Loggers basketball and football teams. The 1953 football team where he played as a quarterback and halfback went undefeated that year. After High School, Ken was drafted into the US Army where he served as PFC during the Korean Conflict from February 1954 - 1956 with HQ & HQ Co. 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. Ken also served time at sea with the Counter Fire Platoon as a Forward Observer Sound Ranger. After his service, he returned to Eureka where he was in business with his Pop, Otto Watts, at Watts & Watts Shell Service for several years. He left this area, lived and worked in various places including Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and most recently Oregon where he owned restaurants and prided himself on making the best hamburger. In addition to the Cafes he owned, Ken loved the farm where he lived and worked on in Riddle, Oregon with his devoted and caring friends, Lynn, Lloyd, & Lance Gordon. Many days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was sorry to miss this years hunting season. Ken enjoyed reunions with his army buddies, his EHS friends, and especially the Watts Family Reunion where his family enjoyed his hosting and barbecuing hamburgers and hotdogs. Ken is survived by his children, daughters Connie Marx, Judy Baker, & Malinda Lindner, his son Gy. Sgt. Lorin Watts of USMC soon to be deployed to Iraq and his wife, Colleen. He leaves grandchildren, Vincent, Teresa, Miriam, Clara, Robert, Caitlin, Sean, Sarah, Kayla, Nolan, & Haleigh.
