Fred moved with his parents in a covered wagon from Colorado to east of Roll at the age of one year and had resided in the Roll-Crawford community the rest of his life. He was married to Naomi Merritt in Cheyenne, Oklahoma December 24, 1928. To this union was born two daughters (Fredia) Mrs. Carl Allen of Amarillo and (Nancy) Mrs. Calvin Hillman of Crawford. Fred's mother passed away when he was 9 years of age. He was reared by his father and helped care for his younger brother. He was a very jolly person and his friends were numbered by the one who knew him. He was an employee of Roger Mills County as a Road Grader and Cat Operator for more than 30 years while also carring on his farm and ranch operations. He always had time to say a friendly hello to everyone he met. He was a wonderful husband and father and a doting grandfather. He always helped anyone in the community who needed help and in return his neighbors were always quick to help him. His family and friends were almose his whole life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Besides his beloved wife of the home he leaves to mourn his passing, his two daughters, 2 sons-in-law, 5 grandchildren, 2 brothers and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. The Minister said at the service that Fred liked every one and everyone in turn liked Fred. The large crowd at the funeral seemed to prove that. A loved one from our midst is gone, a volice we loved is stilled, a place is vacum in our home that never can be filled.
