She was 96 years old. Georgia was born January 20, 1915 to John and Dean (Kent) Steele at Maud, Oklahoma. Georgia grew up in the Moorewood and Hay Creek communities. She attended the Moorewood School through 8th grade. On October 2, 1933 she was united in marriage to Tivis William Kays in Butler, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with two children, Dale and Maryland. The family made their home in Leedey for a time before settling in Elk City. After Tivis passed away in 1974, Georgia was united in marriage to Verdi Yarbrough in 1980. Verdi brought six more children to the family. Georgia worked for several years at the Humpty Dumpty grocery store as a head cashier. Tivis and Georgia also were the head caretaker at Ackley Park and Museum in Elk City. Georgia was very proud of the fact that she helped give out the polio vaccine when it was first discovered. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always enjoyed taking care of her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Some of Georgia's favorite pastimes were fishinhg and crocheting, but above all else she loved to go to the casino. While living in Leedey she was a member of the First Baptist Church and served as church secretary for seven years. Those preceding Georgia in death are husband, Tivis William Kays, parents, John and Dean Steele, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her loving husdband of 31 years, Verdi Yarbrough of the home in Elk City; son, Dale Kays and wife Russellene of Woodward, Oklahoma; daughter, Maryland McEntire and husband A D of Salem, Missouri; six step-children, Calvin, Darrel and David Yarbrough, Ruby House, Kim Swacina and Wynona Blair; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren other family and a lifetime of friends.
