Barker. She passed away April 13, 2007 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, 3 months and 14 days. Ruth grew up in Sweetwater and attended school at Meridian graduating in 1936. She was married to Durwood Melton York at Erick, Oklahoma on December 25, 1937. After their marriage they lived in Sweetwater where they owned and operated their dairy for 30 years. After retiring in 1996 they moved to Hydro until Durwood's death in 2002. Ruth enjoyed sewing, square dancing, arts and crafts, crocheting, and making rugs for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 grandchildren, Sammy and Shane York and 1 great grandchild, Dayson York. Survivors include 1 son Ronnie York and wife, Fern, of Elk City, Oklahoma; 4 daughters, Kula York of Elk City, Oklahoma, Paula McKay and husband, Boyd, of Wichita Falls, Texas; Cheryl Foster and husband Joe, of Custer City, Oklahoma, Phillis McEntire and husband, Richard, of Sweetwater, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren, Joquetta and husband, Robert, Randy and wife, Crystal, Darren and wife, Megan, Carl Johnson and wife, Missy, Laura Pruitt and husband, Robert, Pam Griggs, Ginger Malcon and husband, Garry, Alecia McKay, Shawn Reeder; 15 great grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held on Monday, April 16, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Sweetwater Assembly of God church officiated by J. M. Ashley. Burial was held at Mulberry Cemetery, Sweetwater, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
