He departed this life December 31, 1971, at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 21 days, in Cheyenne Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He came to Oklahoma with his parents and three sisters in 1901. He lived the rest of his life in Roger Mills County. He was married to Hazel Hapgood, November 22, 1910 at Dudley, Oklahoma. To this union seven children were born, two sons and five daughters. He was a devoted husband and father. He was jovial person, well liked by all who knew him. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Hazel of home, two sons, Joy, of Sapulpa, Fra, of Elk City, Oklahoma; five daughters Pauline Russell of Spanish Fork, Utah, Teresa Hensley of Strong City, June Widener of Cheyenne, Luzelle Harless of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Wilma Jean Allen of Hammon, Oklahoma. Twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and three sisters. Funeral services were held in Cheyenne January 2, 1972, with George Frank and Raymond Duncan officiating. Interment was made in the Cheyenne Cemetery.
