Zimmerman was born June 22, 1909 in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma to Fred and Gertie Zimmerman, and died Friday, May 6, 1988 in the Champion Memorial Hospital in Alamorgordo, New Mexico. Berlin moved to Leedey with his family when he was a small boy where he attended school, graduating wit the Class of 1928. He was a member of the High School Orchestra and the Leedey Town Band. In later years, he was an accomplished orgainist. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served during World War II and the Korean War. Following his years in service he and his wife, Margaret bough the Rex Theater which they operated until they moved to Alamorgordo. He was a Civil Service Engineer until he retired. Berlin was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Alamogordo and a member of the National Association of Reitred Federal Employees. Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant sister, Lavena, a brother, Leo, one nephew, Duane Zimmerman and a niece, Barbara Jean Williams. Survivors include his wife, Margaret of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Smith and Patricia Bowerman of Los Angeles, two granddaughters, Helena and Karen Bowerman of Los Angeles; one brother, Loy Zimmerman, Leedey; one niece, two nephews and six step grandchildren. Services were conducted Tuesday, May 10, 1988 fromt the Hamilton Funeral Chapel with burial following in the Monte Vista Cemetery, Alamorgordo.
