Palmour Generation No. 1 1. BENJAMIN A.F.5 PALMOUR (JOHN DAUGHERTY4, SILAS3, SOLOMON PALMOUR2 2, SOLOMON PALMOUR1 1) was born 11 11 1849 in Dawsonville, Georgia, and died 8 28 1930 in Chelsea. Rogers Co. Oklahoma. He married (1) JULIA ODOM 10 1870. He married (2) AMANDA MATHEWS 10 09 1881 in Dawson Co. Georgia, daughter of JAMES MATHEWS and SARAH HARBIN. Notes for BENJAMIN A.F. PALMOUR: Ben and Julia, (his first wife), made the trip to Indian Territory (Okla.) in 1870. He moved between Georgia and Okla. a number of times before settling there permanently in 1900. Julia's uncles (Russell's) made many trips to the gold fields in California and Colorado and one of them put up the first building that is now Denver, Colorado. There is a book written about them published by University of Texas Press, called "Green Russell and Gold". Ben married Amanda Mathews after the death of Julia and settled with her and his family in Indian Territory after being granted land there through the resettlement laws passed against the Cherokees. He is now buried in the Rogers cemetery on a hill just three miles outside Chelsea, Oklahoma just a few miles from where he settled. Before he passed away he had mentioned that he never wanted flowers on his grave, he would be happy if they just sprinkled a few fish hooks over it. This was told to me by my mother, Helen Palmour Kerr when we went to visit Chelsea in the spring of 1993. Children of BENJAMIN PALMOUR and JULIA ODOM are: i.
