Her parents were Teresa Jean (Smith) Wright 20 years and her estranged father Rickie John Wright 22 years. She was also survived by a sister Ginger LeAnn Wright, who was 11 months old at the time. Ginger was born 2 months premature with the weight of 4 lbs 4 oz.. Their maternal grandparents were Thurman Arthur Smith and Betty Sue (Whisenant) Smith of Claremore, OK. Their paternal grandparents were John Edwin Wright and JoAnn (Mayfield) Wright of Claremore, OK. April was 3 lbs 1 1/2 oz. at birth and was born 2 1/2 months early. She had a brain hemorage but the cause of her death was due to her not being able to develop the substance in her lungs to allow her lungs to breath for her. This was determined by an autopsy. She was born at Claremore Regional Hospital in Claremore, OK. but was transferred to St. Francis Hospital in the neonatal intensive care unit, which is located in Tulsa, OK about 25 miles away. April later died there. April's funeral was held at Rice Funeral Home and she was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore, OK. Due to lack of funds her mother was never able to buy a gravestone for her. Her parents later had another child 11 months later, a son who was full-term, Craig Joseph Wright. Again their father was estranged at his birth. Their parents divorced less than a year later. April's time on this earth was brief but important and she has never been forgotten, If she had been born today, she might have survived as her nephew was able to survive due to the advances in medicine. I am her mother, Teresa and I thank you for having this archives as a way to honor her memory. She was a beautiful little girl, the miniature image of her brother Craig.
