Baker Graveside services for Claremore resident William C. Baker will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Washington Cemetery. William died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 in Tulsa Hillcrest Hospital following a long illness. He was 76. Mr. Baker was born Aug. 8, 1926 in Ketchum. He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946, fighting in the Pacific during World War II. During his service to his country, Baker served aboard the USS Lewis Hancock, USS Markah, the USS Prometheus and the USS Vestal. During his Naval career, he received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Victory Medal and the Philippines Liberation Campaign Ribbon. On Jan. 5, 1980, he married his wife Betty. He was a truck driver, a loader operator and a race car driver. In the 1960s, he had a country and western band. He is survived by his wife Betty Baker of the home sons, Allen and Jack of Medford, Ore., and Wayne of Sparks, Nev. daughters, Lillie Bateman and Janet Bacus of Medford, Ore., LaDonna Carlin, Tina Keep, Mirri Baker of Siloam Springs, Nev., Jodie Tester of Mesquite, Nev. step-daughters, Nona Brese of Chelsea and NaLisa Cooper of Collinsville several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one aunt and several cousins. ************************************************************************* Transcribed from the Claremore Progess Newspaper, we sincerely thank them for allowing us to post these obits on the Rogers Co., OK USGenwebpages http://www.claremoreprogress.com/ *************************************************************************
