Bob' Brashers Services for Robert "R.L. Bob" Brashers will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at the Musgrove- Merriott-Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. R.L. died Friday, April 12, 2002 in Tulsa at the age of 77. The son of James Edward and Mattie Lagers Brashers was born Oct. 15, 1924 in Sand Springs. As a young child he moved with his family to the Claremore area. He attended Verdigris Schools where he graduated in 1943. On June 12, 1943 he married Eva "Chick" Irby. Shortly after his marriage, R.L. joined the Army Air Corps and served until his discharge in October 1945. Upon his return home he worked as a mechanic for Bill White Chevrolet and later Jack Marshall Chevrolet. Robert then took a job at Douglas aircraft, where he worked until his retirement in 1979. After his retirement from Douglas he worked as security for Renberg's His hobbies included traveling, hunting, fishing, motorcycles and going camping with his family. Robert was a member of the American Legion. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Eva, and sister Annabelle. Survivors include his daughter, Martha Sue Westover of Tulsa; son, Robert L. Brashers Jr. and wife Nancy of Claremore; grandchildren, Robby and Kimberlee Brashers of Claremore, Pam Bell and husband Iain of Owasso, and Patricia Scribner of Catoosa.
