Barker Mr. Roy Chalmers "Hugh" Barker, 83, native area resident, died at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the Claremore Veterans Center, Claremore, Okla. Funeral services for Mr. Barker will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in the Memory Chapel of The Arnold Moore Funeral Residence. Mr. Roman Ward, Jr. will be the officiant. The James H. Teel American Legion Post #105 will accord him full military rites at the graveside. The funeral cortege will drive overland to the Tyner Cemetery where committal prayers and interment will be directed by The Arnold Moore Funeral Service. Mr. Barker will lie in state in the Drawing Rooms of The Arnold Moore Funeral Residence where friends may call for their visitation until the service hour on Monday afternoon. Roy Chalmers Barker was born on September 11, 1919 in the rural Ramona, Okla. community. He was the son of the late Roy Thomas and Mamie Tabitha (Gott) Barker. He worked on the family farm during his youth and was reared and received his education in the Ramona community schools. He was graduated with the Senior Class of 1938 from the Ramona High School. In 1941, Mr. Barker was enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. He served with the 45th Division in Germany as a Radio Operator. He was a Prisoner of War for 11 months and was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He received his honorable discharge on April 16, 1946 and returned to rural Washington Co. to continue his farming and ranching interests. Mr. Barker was a member of the Ramona, Friends Church and the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are one brother, Billy Joe Barker, rural Ramona, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews including D. Tom Barker, Carl Woodworth, Kenny Woodworth, Rex Woodworth, Mary Jo Mooreland, all of Ramona, Okla. and Cathey Swanson, Bartlesville. He was preceded in death by his father; mother and a sister, Evalea Woodworth. ========= Roy C.
