Phillip Dark officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville. Visitation is until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Don passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2002. He was 67. Born in Bristow, Okla., on May 31, 1934 to Earl and Rene Leet Davis, Don was reared and educated in Union where his parents owned the local grocery store. Graduating from Union High School, Don worked as a bowling instructor at Brookside. Making a name for himself as a bowler, Don earned numerous trophies and wrote a column for the Tulsa World, "Bowling With Don Davis." In 1956, Don joined the Marines, serving for four years following the Korean conflict. After his service, he returned to Tulsa and was employed by the Department of the Interior. Don met Barbara Poynor Barnhart, and the couple was married Feb. 6, 1966. Making Tulsa their home for the first seven years, they were blessed with a daughter. The family moved to an acreage in Inola where they resided for six years before moving to Claremore 23 years ago. Don began employment with Mansur-Daubert & Strella Consulting Engineers, apprenticing the necessary five years to become a licensed surveyor. He advanced to a supervisory position in M.D.&S. and worked for the company for more than 30 years until his retirement in May of last year. Skilled at carpentry and electrical work, Don capably completed many remodeling projects at his home with meticulous precision. Cycling, fishing, photography and ham radio operating all were hobbies he explored and mastered. Don was a quiet man who enjoyed challenging himself to achieve perfection. He is survived by his wife Barbara of their home in Claremore; daughter, Andrea Davis and stepdaughter, Cindy Columbia and husband Dan, all of Claremore; step- grandchildren, Stephanie of Tulsa, Drew, Brittany, Ryan, Anally, all of Claremore and step-great-granddaughter, Daisy of Tulsa. ************************************************************************* We thank the Claremore Progess Newspaper for allowing us to post these obits on the Rogers Co., OK USGenwebpages http://www.claremoreprogress.com/ *************************************************************************
