Rev. Ray Gwartney officiated. Bonnie passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2002. She was 56. Born in Vinita, Okla. on July 12, 1945 to William Finis and Edna Ivy Beck Head, Bonnie was the youngest of eight children. She was reared and educated in Chelsea. She and schoolmate Arthur Charles "Butch" Dawes were married on Dec. 3, 1962 at Miami, Okla. The couple made its first home in Pryor, moving to Claremore in 1963 where they have continued to reside. Two daughters were born to this union. Bonnie was delighted with her own children, but had enough love to bless the lives of many more. She chose a career that allowed her to express this love and became a child care provider, caring for numerous children over the years. Her first tiny charges are now young adults themselves. She adored her child care kids but always maintained that she wasn't going to let herself get quite so attached to the next one - a vow she could never keep. Bonnie was an excellent cook - her pie crusts were a work of art. This skill she learned from her mother and has passed on to her own daughters. She also loved working in her yard, tending to her beautiful flowers. Bonnie was a true and faithful friend, down-to-earth, plainspoken and genuine. She gave freely with no desire for reward or recognition - this was one of the reasons children loved her so. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Butch of their home in Claremore; children, Shelley Bauer and husband Scott of Kansas City, Mo., and Stacy Beard and husband, Brandon of Ft. Worth, Texas; granddaughter, scheduled to arrive on July 4, Braylen Rayne Beard; sisters, Faye Roberts of Pryor, Barbara Treadway of Claremore and Lola Adkisson of Orange, Calif.; and brother, Muriel Head of Wichita, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. In lieu of flowers, please honor Bonnie's memory by contributing to the Bonnie Dawes Memorial Fund, c/o RCB Bank, 300 Patti Page Blvd., Claremore, OK 74017. ************************************************************************* We thank the Claremore Progess Newspaper for allowing us to post these obits on the Rogers Co., OK USGenwebpages http://www.claremoreprogress.com/ *************************************************************************
