Otto Draeger

A long time Chelsea native, who settled 
there prior to statehood. 91 year old
Otto Draeger died Friday at his home in
Houston, Tex.
Services for the retired oil field pumper,
who worked in Rogers County oil fields, 
are to be held in Chelsea Epworth Methodist
Church Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment is to
be in the Chelsea Cemetary under the 
direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith
Funeral Home.
Born April 5, 1887, Draeger settled in 
Chelsea in 1902. He worked in oil fields in
this area when they were going through 
various stages of removal, from vaccuming
to air pressure and water pressure.
At the time of his retirement, he was a 
pumper with Shell Oil Company.
Draeger who moved to Houston in 1971, was
a member of Epworth Methodist Church.
His survivors include a sister Mrs. Chester
(Clara) Cherrington of Chelsea; a son 
Carl Draeger of Houston, as well as three
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his wife 
Della Culp Draeger in January 1939 and his
daughter Mary Parker in 1968.
