Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery in Shawnee, under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday 1-8 p.m., The family will greet friends from 1-8 p.m. Mrs. Erwin passed away December 30, 2002, at her home in Claremore at the age of 81. The daughter of Garfield and Isabelle Purvis was born September 3, 1921. As a young girl she lived in rural Iowa where she attended Story County Public Schools. A few years later she met Louis Erwin, a young military man. May 31, 1941, they were married in Junction City, Kan. As a young military couple they traveled around from state to state before settling in Shawnee, Okla . In 1980, Louis passed away and Wanda moved to Claremore to be near her son. She was a member of the Owalla Road Baptist Church, where she belonged to a women's prayer group known as the "dipsticks." She loved her family and her Lord, and was glad to share her beliefs with others. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Erwin; son, Louis Erwin Jr.,; and daughter, Linda Marie Johnson.
