Glenna passed away at her home in Inola on Sunday, May 26, 2002. She was 70 years old. Born April 13, 1932 to Glen Walter and Mary Kathleen Knight Mullen, Inola was not only her birth community but her lifetime home. Just days after graduating from Inola High School, on May 20, 1950 Glenna and Jay D. Grigg were married in a ceremony in Bentonville, Ark. The couple made their home in Inola and became the parents of four children. During these years, after her children were old enough to be in school, Glenna worked for First Transcontinental Phone Company which later became Continental and then TDS. This employment spanned 30 years. On June 2, 1983, Mr. Grigg passed away. Glenna lived in the same home in Inola for 60 years, a home where the kitchen was always open to everyone. Saturday morning breakfasts were a tradition at Glenna's home. Her children were a top priority for her, even after they were grown. This Christ-like woman who occasionally scolded also instantly forgave. She cut many maple switches and sometimes took off work at her lunch hour to resolve her children's disputes. Her grandchildren always will remember their granny as the source of much love - and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. A sports fan, watching her grandchildren play ball was her greatest joy. She spent many hours raising money for lights for the baseball fields, ultimately raising $3,000. She was many times the first person newcomers to Inola met and she welcomed them into her community. Glenna was very active in her church where she was a member of the UMW. She was also a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and served as Inola City Treasurer some years ago. Those who survive Glenna include her children, Larry and wife Tommie Grigg of Inola, Melissa and husband Mike Powers, also of Inola, Molly and husband Mark Gregoli of Tulsa, and Barney and wife Karen Grigg of Inola; grandchildren, Travis, Jade, Emily, Tucson, Mary, Mandy, Jay, Jett, Sarah, Ryan, Drew and a grandson soon to arrive; great-grandchildren Norman and Preston; and brother, Jerry and wife Clarine Mullen of Houston, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made in Glenna's name to the Inola United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 908, Inola, OK 74036. ************************************************************************* We thank the Claremore Progess Newspaper for allowing us to post these obits on the Rogers Co., OK USGenwebpages http://www.claremoreprogress.com/ *************************************************************************
