Hoel Franklin M. Hoel of Chelsea passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at Colonial Care Nursing Home in Chelsea. He was 81. Friends of Mr. Hoel will be hosting a private memorial service in Tulsa, with private services by the family to be in Alabama at a later date. Born in St. Louis, Mo., he was the son of the late Franklin A. Hoel and Ruth Argo. Mr. Hoel worked in the oil field development business from 1973, up until his death this year. Formerly, Mr. Hoel had been a regional representative for General Motors Corporation and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Air Force Reserves. Mr. Hoel served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a B-29 flight engineer. Prior to the war, Mr. Hoel attended Georgia Tech University and Indiana University, where he graduated. Mr. Hoel was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Surviving are his three sons and two daughters; sons, David F. Hoel of Gainesville, Fla., Greg T. Hoel and Scott A.
