Hammett May 1, 2005 William Ellis Hammett, 78, of Sacramento died April 28, 2005, at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento. Born in Claremore, Okla., he was a Mid-Valley resident for 35 years. He was a federal administrative law judge for 40 years. He had worked for Judge Hez J. Bussey of the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, in private practice, and for the Sinclair Refinery Co. in Kansas City, Mo. He also worked for the U.S. Department of Interior, Office of the Solicitor, in Tulsa, Okla. Since 1970, he had been an administrative law judge. He graduated from Claremore High School in Claremore, Okla., in 1944. He attended the University of Oklahoma, where he received his bachelor's and law degrees. He served in the U.S Navy during World War II. He was a volunteer for the Sacramento Jazz Festival. Survivors include his friend, Sheri Wilson of Yuba City, and her family, including a goddaughter. Donations in his name may be made to the Salvation Army, 401 Del Norte Ave., Yuba City, CA 95991. Services: Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lipp and Sullivan Chapel in Marysville.
