Hazel Berniece Klahr Hazel Berniece Klahr, 94, of Amarillo died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Schooler-Gordon Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Klahr, a Cherokee Indian descendant, was born to Icee and Mary Endsley on Oct. 15, 1909, in Yellville, Ark. She grew up in Crane, Mo., where she met and later married Harold "Kirk" Klahr. She and her husband retired around 1965 from dairy farming in Talala, Okla., and later spent much of their free time traveling across the United States visiting friends and family. Mrs. Klahr was Past Matron of the Eastern Star in Oologah, Okla. She was a member of Lamont Drive Baptist Church in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 20, 2002. Survivors include two sons, Arthur E. Klahr of Amarillo and H.R. Klahr and wife, Kimi, of Durango, Colo.; a daughter, Dolly Gartell and husband, Bill, of Amarillo; six grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Khiva Shriners and Eastern Star.
