Litterell Sr. Services for James K. Litterell Sr. will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002 at First Assembly of God Church. Revs. Armon Newburn, Curtis Owens and Dave Mewbourne will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family receiving visitors from 6-8 p.m. James passed away on Friday, Sept. 20. He was 83. Born in Pryor on June 20, 1919 to Claude and Sally Pate Litterell, James spent his early years in his birth community. At the age of 10, his family moved to Tulsa, where James grew up. He began his career as an iron worker and entered the U.S. Navy in 1944. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, James returned to the iron working trade. James and Vivian Abbott married and became the parents of three children, Lois, James Jr. and David. In 1962, Vivian passed away. On Feb. 22, 1963, James made Lora Mae Evans his bride in a Tulsa ceremony. The couple lived in Tulsa for nine years before moving to Claremore in 1972. Three more children were added to the family. James retired in 1975 and filled his time with fishing, kids' sporting events, gardening and service to his church family. James leaves his family and others who were close to him with special memories. He is survived by his wife, Lora Mae, of their home in Claremore; children, Lois Hicks and husband David of Tulsa, Kyla Jones and husband Wayne of Claremore, James Litterell Jr. and wife Linda of Jennings, David Litterell and wife Linda of Sand Springs, Milburn Litterell and wife Sonja of Claremore and Virgil Litterell and wife Tammy of Claremore; 12 grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles and Bobby Litterell.
