Visitation: November 10, 2002 Service: November 11, 2002 Cemetery: Woodland Cemetery [Photo included] James Paul Lomax, Jr. was born April 26, 1949 in Odessa, Texas. He was the son of James Paul, Sr. and Alene Fern Lomax. He was raised in the Odessa area and then later attended school in Aransas Pass, graduating from Aransas Pass High School in 1967. Upon graduation from high school, Paul attended Texas A&M University at Kingsville, Texas for a couple of years before moving to the Lomax Ranch near Claremore, Oklahoma. During the next thirty-five years, Paul assisted his father in the daily operations of the ranch including tending and feeding cattle, mending fence, cutting and baling hay and all other facets of ranching. Paul was married to Cissy Barber in Gainesville, Texas on December 23, 1981. The couple has made their home on the Lomax Ranch for most of their married life. The couple raised eight children: Howard, Lenora, James, Jason, Denise, Debbie, Amanda and William. Upon the death of his father James Paul Lomax, Sr. in 1991, Paul has maintained the family ranch as well as being employed as a consultant for Southwest Welding for the past few years. Paul was a family man that most of all enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved to spend time on his tractor and jeep, as well as traveling and spending time in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Paul passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2002 at the Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of fifty-three years, six months and eleven days. In addition to his father, Paul was preceded in death by a son, Jason Wade Lomax. He is survived by his wife, Cissy Lomax, of the home; seven children, Howard Lomax, Houston, Texas, Lenora Gaskey, Ratliff City, Oklahoma, Sgt James Anderson, United States Army, Fort Stewart, Georgia, Denise Ford, Claremore, Oklahoma, Debbie Battles, Catoosa, Oklahoma, Amanda Lomax, Claremore, Oklahoma, William Lomax, Claremore, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Tristan Gaskey, Ratliff City, Oklahoma, Mickey Ford, Claremore, Oklahoma, Jolynn Gaskey, Ratliff, Oklahoma, Nicolas Battles, Catoosa, Oklahoma, Brice Dreshear, Claremore, Oklahoma; mother, Alene Lomax, of the home; and a sister, Linda Lomax Allison, Claremore, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 11, 2002 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel in Cleveland with Chaplain Daniel Holly officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
