All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Blackwell Cemetery--Blackwell OK Merchant, Zelma Zelma Merchant, 88, of Blackwell, Oklahoma died on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 in Blackwell Regional Hospital Blackwell, Oklahoma. Zelma was born October 19, 1918 in Powell, MO to Ernest T. and Nancy (Pendergraft) Laughlin. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2007 in the Chapel of the Blackwell Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery. Arrangements are under the directions of Blackwell Funeral Home, Blackwell, Oklahoma . Zelma loved flowers, quilting, crocheting, and embroidery but her greatest love was for her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed going to family reunions. She attended Snarr school in Rogers County, Oklahoma and was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Blackwell. Zelma married James E. Merchant March 21, 1937 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1987. She is survived by her daughter, Ethel L. Martin and her husband, Russell of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; her son, William T. Merchant of Blackwell, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Julie and David Duncan, Kenny and Kristi Merchant, Sandy and Tommy Rush, Bill Sherman, Trisha and Ryan Jackson, Shaun Merchant; seven great-grandchildren, Nicolle and Dusty Hash, Anna Sherman, Nathan Duncan, Timothy Duncan, Kelsie Merchant, Kailyn Merchant, and Haylee Jackson; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; her son, Jesse J. Merchant; her brothers, Ernest P., Claude L., Moses "Junior", Freddie M. Laughlin. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in care of Blackwell Funeral Home, 301 W. Blackwell Ave. Blackwell, Oklahoma.
