Burial will follow at Number Five Cemetery in Mansfield, Mo. Friends may visit today until 8 p.m. at the funeral home with family there from 6-8 p.m. Blanche passed away Sept. 27, 2002, one day after her 90th birthday. Born Sept. 26, 1912 at Mansfield, Mo., Blanche's parents were Daniel and Nellie Yandell Brasher. Blanche was reared on a farm in rural Mansfield. She graduated from Mansfield High School where, as pitcher for the girls softball team, she had a reputation for fanning batters as fast as they got up to bat. Blanche attended Southwest Missouri State and then returned to teach at the same school she had attended as a child, Number Five School in rural Mansfield. Next came employment as secretary to the school nurse at Hartville, Mo. Blanche and Olis Loyde Newton were married and blessed with two children, Dorothy and Kenneth, both of whom were also born in the Mansfield area. Blanche was next employed as office manager of Anderson-Parks Candy Co. She subsequently went to work at Rogers and Baldwin Wholesale Hardware Co. as a bookkeeper and then took a position as a credit manager for Springfield Women's Clinic. She retired in 1977 from the women's clinic. Blanch enjoyed bowling. She once bowled on a team that won the state championship. It seems that whatever she undertook to do, she did well. She was determined and able to accomplish whatever task needed to be done. As so many women with families and careers, Blanche developed a certain strength that carried her through the challenges she so ably faced. Camouflaged by a sweet and loving exterior, she was a very tough woman. In October of 1993, Blanche moved to Claremore to be near her daughter, Dorothy. She has been a Claremore resident since that time. Blanche is survived by her children, Dorothy Davis of Claremore and Kenneth Newton and his wife Neta of Chatham, Ill.; grandchildren, Cynthia Jones of Claremore, Edward Davis and Stanley Davis, both of Oronogo, Mo., Pamela Jouett of Sherman, Ill., and Tamara Wright of Springfield, Ill.; 16 great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Brasher; niece, Bonita Tyson; and nephew, Bernard Brasher, all of Caldwell, Idaho ************************************************************************* Transcribed from the Claremore Progess Newspaper, we sincerely thank them for allowing us to post these obits on the Rogers Co., OK USGenwebpages http://www.claremoreprogress.com/ *************************************************************************
