Rev. Richard Hubbard will officiate. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Kenneth passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2003. He was 56. Friends may visit from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church in Chelsea. A longtime Chelsea resident, Kenneth was born in this community on March 5, 1946 to Lewey Jr. and Ivon Wilson Nelson. He graduated from Chelsea High School with the class of 1964 and went on to electrical training school through Electrical Union #584. On April 4, 1969, Kenneth married Chelsea schoolmate Liz Johnston in a Miami ceremony. They made their home in Claremore for 12 years before returning to Chelsea. This union was blessed with the birth of one daughter, Kristie, the light of her dad's life. Kenneth and Liz were both motorcycle enthusiasts and made many cross- country trips on their bikes. They were members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He also was fond of woodworking and leather crafts and had a first-rate shop in his home. His first interest, however, was the welfare and happiness of his girls. He always put them first, a quality he inherited from his caring and devoted mother. Those who survive this good and loving man, wonderful husband and father are his wife, Liz Nelson of their home in Chelsea; daughter, Kristie Nelson, also of Chelsea; mother, Ivon Nelson of Chelsea; brothers, Robert Lee Nelson and his wife, Zella, also of Chelsea and Johnny Nelson and his wife, Jackie of Claremore; sister, Jerri Bowen and her husband, Frank of Tulsa; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. ************************************************************************* Transcribed from the Claremore Progess Newspaper, we sincerely thank them for allowing us to post these obits on the Rogers Co., OK USGenwebpages http://www.claremoreprogress.com/ copyright c 2002-2003, by webmaster Rogers Co.
