Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday from 1-6 p.m. and 8 a.m. to noon on Monday. Nelson died Sunday, June 30 at his home at the age of 96. The son of Alvin Anderson and Mabel Moore Pipes was born Sept. 30, 1927 and married Youlin Pearl Martin on June 6, 1930. They lived in Tulsa until May 1967, when Nelson was transferred to Houston, Texas by his employer, Royalties Management Corporation, which was being consolidated with Houston Oil and Minerals Corporation. Upon Nelson's retirement in 1973, Nelson and Youlin moved to Claremore. Nelson was a member of First United Methodist Church in Claremore, Delta Lodge #425 in Tulsa, and Oklahoma Consistry in Guthrie. Nelson is preceded in death by his wife, Youlin in 1994. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Nelson Pipes and wife Janice Nordeen of Claremore; grandchildren, Tamera Lynn Martinez of Hollister, Calif., Christine Meredith Allerton of Hollister, Calif. and Darren James Pipes of Los Banos, Calif.; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Truman B.
