Padgett, 98, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002 in Claremore. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29 at Sequoyah Baptist Church in Claremore. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Claremore Funeral Home. Padgett was born Nov. 28, 1903 in Muskogee, Indian Territory, to William Russell and Samantha Delcena (Legan) Miller. They moved from Missouri to Oklahoma in 1906. She married Walter R. Padgett on March 14, 1922 in Claremore, where they lived until their deaths. She retired from the Department of Human Services. She was a charter member of Sequoyah Baptist Church and was very active in her church as a Sunday school teacher and community work. She was preceded in death by her parents seven siblings; husband, Walter R. Padgett son, Harold Lloyd Padgett; and daughter, Erma Messimore. She is survived by her children, Charles and wife Gladys Padgett, Joyce and husband Elliott Brown, Rosa Padgett and Harry Messimore 17 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
