He was born Aug. 25, 1923 in Hulbert, Okla., to William K. and Leona "Rosie" (Brummett) Poindexter. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was in the 782nd Tank Battalion. On March 11, 1975, Harme married Iris in Miami, Okla. Harme retired in 1987 from Dover Corp., where he was Forge Operator for more than 30 years. He was an avid bow hunter and fisherman who enjoyed playing pitch, dominoes and checkers, as well as raising watermelons and other melons in his garden. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 577 in Tulsa. Harme was preceded in death by siblings, Rosie Ellen Freeman, Etta Jane Shelton and Ben and Laura Poindexter. He is survived by his wife, Iris Poindexter of Claremore; children, Freda Brown of Claremore and Wayne Spurgeon of Chelsea; numerous nephews and nieces; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002 at Claremore Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hulbert.
