Glenn Shaffer, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Roberts passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2002. He was 71. Roberts was born in Evansville, Ind., on Sept. 21, 1930 to Luther and Musetta Scott Roberts. He was reared and educated in Evansville, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1948. He earned a degree in education at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, then went on to receive a master's degree in agricultural studies. Involved in R.O.T.C. in college, Luther entered the Air Force after graduation. After his honorable discharge from military service, he returned to Evansville. On Aug. 2, 1964, Luther and Carolyn Wilson were married in Louisville, Ky., her hometown. The couple lived in Evansville for several years, then Cleveland, Ohio before coming to Claremore in 1975; this move was due to a transfer with Agrico, Luther's employer. He also utilized his degree in education as a biology teacher for some time. Around 1990, health reasons necessitated Luther's retirement. He did return to the classroom for a time, however, teaching at Claremore Christian School. He also served recently on the board at the Veteran's Field of Honor at Oakhaven, helping to coordinate last year's Memorial Day commemoration. Luther was a faithful member of the Church at Claremore. An upright man, he was an example to his children and all those around him. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of their home in Claremore; son, Scott Roberts of Claremore; daughter, Christine Brodrecht and husband James of Marion, La.; grandchildren, Sophia and Levi Brodrecht, also of Marion; mother, Musetta Roberts of Evansville, Ind.; and brother Robert Roberts of Princeton, Ind.
