RUMBAUGH SEPT. 13, 1916 - NOV. 24, 2006 Cirgus (Curt) H. Rumbaugh went to be with the Lord, Friday, November 24, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was a native of Claremore, Oklahoma and a resident of Modesto since 1946. Curt was a member (usually known as Shorty) of the Operating Engineers Local 3 for over 50 years. M.J. Ruddy & Son Construction was his first employer; taking him from the building of the Delta Mendota Canal to many highway bridges/overpasses from Firebaugh throughout the San Joaquin Valley. He also worked for A. Teichert, Granite Construction, and various other companies with his final job being on the Melones Dam. This final job consisted of being the oiler on one of the world's most technical and largest cranes and earth moving equipment. Due to ill health he was forced to retire at the age of 62 before the completion of the dam. Curt and Virginia (Bump) Rumbaugh were married at Siloam Springs, Arkansas on January 4, 1941. On September 13, 2006 the Rumbaugh family celebrated Curt's 90th birthday. He passed away just six weeks short of his 66th wedding anniversary! He was blessed to be survived by three daughters and their spouses, Beverly and Dr. Doug Neil of Bonanza, Oregon, Helene and Rev. James Hill of Modesto, and Brenda and Walter Cockrell of Roseburg, Oregon. He was also blessed with having ten grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren who loved their G-Papa with all their hearts. He will be greatly missed!! Viewing will be Wednesday, Nov. 29, 4pm-9pm at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel.
