She was 74. Sheats was born July 22, 1928 in Hot Springs, Ark. She had lived in Mounds for the past six years, moving there from Tulsa. Velma married William (Bill) Sheats on June 15, 1950 in Claremore. She was a homemaker and had worked for the Wilson Company. She was of the Methodist faith. Survivors are her husband Bill of the home; son Jerry and Julie Sheats of Jenks; grandchildren Cory Sheats, Mandy Stumpf, Shelby Sheats, Kristen Sheats; sisters Estaline Washington and Shirley Campbell, both of Claremore, and Katherine Cantor of Tulsa and brother Ray Grisham of Claremore. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sapulpa with Rev. Harold Phillips officiating.
