Clona will be laid to rest near her parents in the Stilwell City Cemetery. Friends may visit from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Clona passed away on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002. She was 84. Born in Stilwell on Dec. 2, 1917 to William and Willie Keys Yancey, Clona was reared and educated in her birth community. During World War II, she lived for a time in California, working in aircraft assembly as the proverbial "Rosie the Riveter." It wasn't until after moving to Claremore that she met her future husband, Percy E. Steidley. The couple were married here on Christmas Day in 1943 and made Claremore their home throughout the years. They were blessed with two sons, Howard and Stephen. A traditional homemaker, Clona took great pride in her home, family and garden. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 60 years. Later in life, she became a proficient quilter, exhibiting her craft in shows around the area. She was a member of the Country Fare Quilt Guild. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Clona is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Percy of their home; sons, Howard E. Steidley, also of Claremore, and Stephen D. Steidley of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandson, Adam E. Steidley of Collinsville; and brother, Joseph D. Yancey of Phoenix, Ariz. ************************************************************************* Transcribed from the Claremore Progess Newspaper, we sincerely thank them for allowing us to post these obits on the Rogers Co., OK USGenwebpages http://www.claremoreprogress.com/ *************************************************************************
