Pastor Lee Morgans officiated. Virginia passed away on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002. She was 84. Born in Catoosa on Feb. 13, 1918 to George and Ada Troglin Gunter, Virginia was reared and educated in Catoosa and then Claremore. Virginia married Cecil W. Stone on Oct. 10, 1938 in Sayre, Okla. She and Cecil did much of their courting at the old Armory in Claremore. They were a good match, enjoying many of the same simple pleasures, such as working in the garden at their rural Foyil property. On their 50th wedding anniversary, they were able to renew their vows in a Memorial Heights Baptist Church ceremony. Cecil passed away on April 22, 1998. They had enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage. Virginia worked as cook/owner/operator of Dick's Cafe. She also cooked at the college, Franklin Hospital and various other hospitals, cafes and the senior center. In later years, she retired from Claremore Regional Hospital, where she had worked as an aide. Virginia always found the good in others, perhaps she had so much good inside herself. She loved lending a helping hand and was always bright and cheerful, even during her recent hospitalization. Though never blessed with children of her own, Virginia was a loving aunt and good friend to many. Her example of devotion to Cecil was an inspiration to those who knew this couple. Survivors include extended family living locally, Lawrence and Betty Eddy, Harold and Jeanie Horton, Joe and Judy Jones, Ray and Millie Freeman, Joe Freeman, Ralph Stone, Gladys Stone, Opal Stone, and lifelong friends and her adopted family, Alma Taber, Connie Liggans, Loyd, Debi and Lonnie Taber and Linda Cramer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; two brothers, Lloyd and Glen Gunter; and one sister, Lois Mills. ************************************************************************* Transcribed from the Claremore Progess Newspaper, we sincerely thank them for allowing us to post these obits on the Rogers Co., OK USGenwebpages http://www.claremoreprogress.com/ *************************************************************************
