Iva passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2002. She was 80. Born in Claremore on May 8, 1922 to James and Wynona Plew Chaney, Iva was reared and educated in Claremore. She worked for a time as a dispatcher for Tom Moffeit Cab Company. On Sept. 24, 1938, Iva married Charley E. Stonebarger. Their family eventually grew to include eight children. Iva, having been born into a large family, was an expert homemaker. She loved to have her family close and always had a houseful. The family spent some time in California; Mr. Stonebarger passed away there in 1987. Iva returned to Claremore where she resided continuously since. She loved to sew, crochet and paint. During her early years of marriage, Iva and Charley sang together at their church. Music often filled their home. Survivors of this loving mother include her children, Franklin Stonebarger and wife Shirley of Blue Lake, Calif., Norma White and husband Bob of Catoosa, Joyce Watts and husband Vernon of Claremore, Pauline Stonebarger of Ronhart Park, Calif., Kathy Myers and husband Albert of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Cecil Stonebarger and wife Carrie of Sand Springs; numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren; and brothers John Chaney of Claremore and Benton Chaney of Grand Lake.
